Year 2010 for the Relay for Life is finished, and it was a success.
Matt, Logyn, Mary, Carl, Stephanie, Landyn, Me, Gloria, Summer, Nicole, Lisa K, Lisa L, and Karen. Not pictured; Keenan, Bonnie, Liz, Mel,We made it through tornado warnings, lightning and thunderstorms, it rained 3 times, and we had very strong winds.
We were about to start the ceremony and then we had to evacuate to the Elementary School for tornado warnings.
We continued the Relay inside the school for a couple hours. We also had to haul all of our food and equipment inside the school for a short time, and then haul it all back down to the track and start over.... sounds wonderful doesn't it?
Even though it was VERY challanging to hold it all together.
We did it.
All of our teams raised $34,000 for Polk County cancer patients.
Unfortunatly my mom was sick and had to go home early, so she couldn't do her survivor walk. It was cancelled anyways.
We didn't sell as many Taco's In a Bag as I would have liked because of all the rain.
This is Matt and Logyn with Logyn's favorite outside toy, his shopping cart.
But at the end it was beautiful. The luminaries were lit, and the sky was black.
It was perfect.
Thank you to everyone who helped donate, or gave their time and energy to the Relay for Life
