Sam

Now we haven't had much luck with pets.

We did have a dog named Bear and he was a great dog. He was trained and full grown when we rescued him. But after having Landyn he had gotten old, had a heart condition, and limes. He became irritated and ended up attacking Landyn when Landyn was just 9 month old.

We had to put him to sleep.

It was sad.

We also had a cat, Homer, he was a great cat. He never meowed. He was quiet, and occasionally loved to cuddle and loved to play with Bear.

When we put Bear down, he went a little crazy and got outside and disappeared for a while. He eventually showed up in our garage, skinny, and malnourished. I didn't want Landyn to get sick from a yucky cat. We couldn't get rid of him, who would want a cat like that. So our friend Nick took him and found him a good home.

We tried a puppy about a year later.

Not researching long enough we had picked a kind of animal that was notorious for not getting house trained and that dog lived up to that title.
We ended up giving her to an older couple that had just recently lost their dog when it got hit by a car.

Then there was Jazmine, rescued by my friend Kayli's brother Bill. Just a small puppy she was great. She played with Landyn and loved the wadding pool. (she did like to dig in the yard too). She was well behaved, and love able. Then Logyn was born, its like her attitude changed. She was mean and irritable, she cornered my 2 small cousins in our kitchen one day.

I panicked.
I didn't want what happened to Landyn to happen to him again or Logyn or anyone else. So I called my brother and said you HAVE to find a home for her. I felt horrible, but my boys come first.

Now some people would say that we are not animal people, that we are insensitive. But what most people don't know is that I grew up on a farm. We had cats and dogs all the time. I have had every kind of dog in the encyclopedia over 25 dogs growing up.
They were always a part of the family. But they got hit by cars, attacked by god only knows, and its horrible... but some animals were taken to the woods with Dad and the gun and us kids were told they ran away and they were never seen again.
I have almost become immune to attaching to animals.
Matt has had only a handful of dogs they have all passed away and is also grown immune. By in light of all of our bad examples we both still want to try.
One day we will come across the perfect family animal.
Last night Matt brought home a kitten we call Sam.
I have never seen a cat like him.
He is a runt, and he loves kids... a kitten...that loves kids! Who would of thought!

Most kittens run and jump and claw and meow, and climb... Sam likes to cuddle and spent the night next to Landyn on his pillow. The sweetest thing ever.

Maybe...

...this is it.

Luck vs Grantsburg

Friday night last week after I got home from work. Matt had gotten off early too because of our Bee sting drama. We decided because it was such a beautiful day that we should go to the Luck home Football game.

We thought the boys might enjoy being outside, and watching all the excitement.
So we packed up for the 5 block drive.
Landyn was excited to see all the football players. He was also excited to see the race track (which is the High School Track). He was upset though that Mom and Dad told him he couldn't run on the track because of all the people.
We picked a spot on the bleachers and parked the stroller.

Pep Band started and Logyn was in awe. He couldn't figure out where all that wonderful music was coming from. He deperately wanted off my lap on onto the floor of the bleachers. So I set him down in the section reserved for wheel chairs and he just sat and staired all the people down.

One old Lady next to him was trying to get him to clap to the music with her, but all he wanted to do was watch.

Landyn, was keeping himself occupied by climbing the bleacher rails, which did make me nervous but Dad said he would be fine.

I don't think I ended up watching any part of the game, I was constantly chasing Logyn, and keeping an eye on Landyn.

I decided that I wanted to let Logyn get a chance to run wild so I took him down to the grass and let him crawl around which he loved. And Landyn made some new friends that were playing tag. We also caught up with my Aunt and Uncle Tim and Kim so we visited with them for a while.

The fun was short lived when it was starting to get dark and the bugs were coming out, Landyn was still trying desperatly to RUN on the "Race Track". We decided to call it a night, and then the Landyn LoRusso melt down started, so we were the couple seen dragging a screaming 3 year old across the track and the parking lot.

But we did manage to get a nice family picture of all of us before we left.

Poor Baby!

Last week was a crazy week, being that Matt and I didn't have to work on Monday, Landyn started school Tuesday so I went into work late so I could bring him and pick him up on his first day. And again on Thursday I went to work late because... well... Landyn's first day didn't go as well as I had hoped.

Friday morning started like any other Friday. I was excited (because it was Friday). I got to work at around 8:00 and was working on all my Friday work stuff, when I suddenly got a call. It was my Mom, she was a little panicky while telling me she thought Logyn had been stung by a bee. I could hear him screaming in the background, (which most mothers can tell their children's cry, and this was unlike any other cry of Logyn's).

As she was talking to me she was finding more and more stings all over his little body. I asked her if he was OK. If he was breathing OK, was he showing any sign of being allergic to them. She didn't think so, but we did think it would be a good idea for me to come home and take a look at him. I wanted to make sure he wasn't going to swell up like a balloon. I figured I was going to have to take him to the doctor.

Of course the ride home from SCF to LUCK felt as if it was 5 hours long. I get behind the dumbest driving people. And on my way home I was trying to call my mom to check on Logyn, well the line was busy, and I was panicking thinking that OMG she is on the phone with the paramedics, the doctor, or the police. I redialed the whole way home...nothing...

When I pulled in the driveway I was almost worked up enough, that I thought that I was going to see an ambulance in the drive way, but there wasn't.

I walked in the door and Logyn was on the floor drinking a bottle. You could tell he had been crying, but there were all these swollen bright red marks all over his little body. It was so sad. Some marks were big and some were little.

He had been upstairs playing with is brother and we figured a wasp had gotten inside his little shirt and stung him all over his neck, his belly, head, and the back of his legs. We counted 20 stings all together.

He had started screaming and my Mom ran to him and couldn't figure out what was wrong with him until she had seen the little red marks, so she stripped his clothes off. She never found a wasp but we think she found the stinger.

I kept worrying that he would stop breathing at any moment, but there was nothing, he only looked tired because of all the screaming he had done. He didn't even seem bothered by the stings. I called the doctor... and of course... you can't call and talk to anyone is SCF.

I only called SCF because I thought if something happened we would need to take him to the nearest hospital which unfortunately would be SCF.

(By the way if you don't already know, I can't stand the way things are done at SCF Medical Centers, you can never talk to someone, and also if you have to bring your baby in the ER they make you leave if you don't have a primary Doctor. Needless to say, I tried to call they transferred me 3 TIMES!!!!! When I finally got through the lady was so quiet I had to YELL at her because I couldn't hear a thing. She kept giving me different answers when I would repeat what she said because I couldn't hear. ) Last time I call SCF!

I got more info on the Internet... which is sad.

Mom and I decided that we should get some Benadril and some savv for his little stings, so we doped him up, and he took a nap, and it never seemed to affect him at all.
But now that he has had all these stings we figure he may have a reaction next time, so we need to keep and eye on him.

He is one strong little guy.

Poor baby.
