Boys will be Boys

Daddy-Matt has been gone a lot working the last few weeks. I think the last I counted he has been home a whole total of 9 days this whole month.

Needless to say the boys missed him so much. They were so excited to see him home this last weekend.

Matt has been great spending time with them. They love to crawl on top of him and wrestle on the floor. I think its their favorite thing to do now, (when mom sits on the floor I get pummelled.)

Matt has kept the boys occupied by dragging them across the floor on a sleeping bag. They got a real kick out of it. I don't think I have ever heard them laugh as hard as they did.

Faster! Faster!

Go dad go!

Weeee...

Mud

What can I say... this kid loves the mud!

Oooo its soo gushy!

Its a little cold, but I think I could get used to this

Come on mom, lets follow the mud puddles!

Running away after mom stripped his clothes and rinsed him off in the little purple pool.

He still wants to be in the MUD.

"Crab Crawl"

Logyn has always been an interesting kid. He is so different from his big brother Landyn.

We have learned that they definitely have total opposite personalities, and they learn how to do thing completely different from each other.

Logyn learned to crawl around 6 months old. He scooted across the living room floor to get to his snugly puppy, and mom was lucky enough to be home to see it for the first time.

But we noticed one odd thing.

When Logyn learned to crawl he did not like the linoleum floor. He didn't like his knees touching the cold floor so he would crawl normal on carpet but would instantly switch to what we called the "crab crawl" with his butt in the air, and hands and feet on the floor with no knees.
Pretty hysterical when you first see it.

Hands and feet down...

Butt in the air...

Logyn is 1 year old and walking here and there (not RUNNING across the floor), but he STILL does the crab crawl on the linoleum and he also does the crab crawl outside in the grass and on the driveway.

He has been doing it for so long that it looks normal, and when cars drive by they see this baby crawling goofy they tend to slow way down to watch.

Poor Boy's Sandbox

Landyn used to have a decent sandbox, but we never remember to keep it covered and it usually ends up full of water, becomes a mosquito cest pool, and gets pretty yucky.
So we had to stop using it.

So this is Landyn's new sandbox...
the end of the driveway were the water runs after it rains...

Poor kid.

Logyn's First Birthday

Sunday, August 9th was Logyn's birthday. I can't believe that it has been a year already. There has been many things that have come in the past year, but it still has seemed to fly by.

To me Logyn still looks like my tiny baby boy that we brought home from the hospital.

I remember having preemie clothes that he drowned in. I was so excited for him to wear the outfit that I picked out for him. It was a little brown pair of pants, a light blue onezie, with a brown zip up jacket with matching hat and booties. We put his outfit on before we left the hospital so we could get some good pictures of him. Logyn slept the whole way home.

When we pulled in the driveway my mom had made a sign in the front yard out of a cardboard box that said "Its a boy!

Everyone was anxious to hold him, but as soon as we all sat down to look at our new creation. Logyn pooped right through his special little outfit. So he only wore it for about 3 hours.

Sunday we all woke up early to get started on Logyns party. The kids were both extremely crabby so I thought that we would be in for a I fun day. We had a pretty good turn out for the party. It was such a nice day I was prepared for lots of people, so we could sit outside or stay in the house.

We had great uncle Jeff, and his son Nathan, great aunt Kim, and great uncle Tim, and their kids Tanner and Dawson, grandma Mary, uncle Carl, and aunt Steph, Mary's friend Nichole, and her new grand daughter Madysin, uncle Keenan and cousin Izzak and his other aunt Jenna. We had daycare kids Olivia, and Zack, and their parents Todd and ronett, and grandma Bonnie.

Logyn especially LOVED little baby Madysin. She is almost 2 months old. He had never met her before and he squealed with joy when he seen her in her car seat. He about jumped right in with her! He loved to touch her, and he would jabber to her, and he kept wanting to lay on her. He was so excited to play with her feet when she moved around. I have never seen him so excited to see someone, well except for mom :)

We tried to start the grill a little early but, our charcoal apparently got a little wet so we didn't end up eating until around 2:00. So Logyn had a pre-lunch birthday meal. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, and Mary made 3 different salads, they were all yummy. We also had a taco salad, chips, marinated cheese, and juice. Everyone stuffed their bellies full!

We quickly started presents soon after our lunch/dinner, because kids were getting pretty antsy. Logyn had already started on a present that had a hole in it. My mom was pushing the buttons on the present, so make it sing, and Logyn could not figure out where it was coming from, he would look behind the present and then tip it over to try and find that sound.

We finally pulled the present out of the hole, he wasn't quite sure what the present thing was about. He just wanted to sit and examine them all. Landyn was much more ecstatic about the new toys.

Logyn received some great bath toys, and a train from mom and dad. A frog from grandma Bonnie, a cool drum from carl and steph, he also got 2 cell phones and a land line! ALREADY! :) and lots of other great toys.

Next we started cake and ice cream, I think it was Logyn's favorite part of the party.

I think these next pictures explain themselves...

After we were all caked out we all descended outside to visit because it was such a beautiful day! The kids played and the adults chatted.

The kids were having fun playing "White Castle" in Landyn's outdoor play castle.

"Would you like fries with that?"

Logyn was sooo pooped out after kids, presents, and lots of sugary cake he just decided to lay in the front yard and rest for a while...

Polk County Fair

This weekend Matt was lucky enough to be home with the kids. There has not been too many of those this summer.

We decided to take the kids to the Polk County Fair in St. Croix Falls. I was lucky that I had a free pass to get in and the kids were free too so it was actually a good thing we didn't have to fork out a ton of money just to get in, let alone the enormous charge for tickets to ride the rides.

This year was the first year Landyn was able to ride the midway rides. He was so excited when we got there, he wanted to go on the roller coaster just like on T.V.

He was floored when he saw the giant wheel way up in the sky.
We told him that we could go for a ride on it and he wasn't so sure about that when we walked all the way up to the fairest wheel. He wanted to see it but he didn't want to ride on it.

After that Matt and I took him right to the roller coaster. He wasn't quite tall enough so mom volunteered to ride on it too.

Once we started going he was excited and I could hear him squealing with joy until it started going faster and harder. Every turn we took he would slam into me, and I could feel his tiny little body flopping all over. I kept trying to look at his face to see if he was alright but there was absolutely no expression.

Then I kept hearing him howl but he wasn't crying. He just kept saying "woo, wow this is fun" but with no smile, tears, or fear, just a blank face until we got off.

I asked him if he had fun and then he said "yeah mom that was great, lets go!".

Next we went to the little airplane rides, these rides Landyn was able to ride all by himself, and I think he enjoyed that the most.
Then we went to the carousel, Dad voted to go with Landyn on that one. Then it was to the BIG slide. Landyn was excited about that, him and dad climbed all the way to the top and when Landyn looked down at all the people he said "crap this is high dad".

So Landyn and daddy went down the big slide. Landyn was too little to go down by himself so he had to sit on dad's lap.

When they got down to the bottom Landyn didn't realize that this slide was a one time deal. He was raring to go down again, but when we told him we had to leave and let the next people go down... there was the meltdown of the day.

We told him he could pick any ride he wanted to go on again instead of the slide so he quickly recovered.

(By the way Logyn was with us too, he spent most of the day in mom or dads arms being that...well... he was too little to go on all the rides. I don't think that he minded though, he was in the stroller, and outside watching all the people and the animals so most of the time he didn't make a peep.)

So it was back and forth to all the little kids rides. I think Landyn went on the air plane ride three times, the giant jumping castle 2 times, the slide once, the roller coaster once, the carousel 2 times and a turtle ride 2 times. So you would think the kid would get dizzy or something but no. I think he could have gone all night long if we let him.

When we told Landyn we were out of tickets he was ready to go home. We walked FOREVER to our car, strapped the kids in, and before we got out of the parking lot they were asleep.

Matt and I smiled at the thought of them having so much fun...they were too tired to talk about it.
